michaelThere were multiple things that really grabbed my attention when I made my first visit to Georgetown College as a senior in high school. Right away the campus felt like home. I just knew it was where I was supposed to be.

In particular, I was attracted early-on to the Equine Scholars Program since I wanted to learn more about the Equestrian Industry. It was a perfect fit with my planned double major.

Through the Equine Scholars Program, I’ve been able to develop relationships with a diverse group of people and continue to expand my networking skills. This enabled me to get an internship over the summer between my junior and senior years with the United States Equestrian Federation.

That internship helped me better understand what I want in my career. It also enabled me to achieve great connections and, working through GC’s Calling and Career Center, the internship led to my receiving an award from the Kentucky Association of Colleges and Employers.

At the same time, I was involved with the campus chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, the business student organization. At a national meeting, I won an award in Human Resource Management.

During the second semester of my freshman year, I began working as a student assistant with the men’s basketball team. During my sophomore year, the team won the NAIA National Championship, which was so exciting. The experience of working with athletics and networking with some great people encourages me to possibly consider a career in sports management after I go to graduate school to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration.

All along I’ve had the support of amazing Georgetown professors. I’ve developed what I know will be life-long friendships. There’s no doubt that Georgetown has the best faculty, staff, and students that I could have ever asked for.

Never have I doubted whether or not I had someone who cared enough about me to help me with any task. They are there for me when I need a support system, cheering me on, and most important, they are there for me as I continue my walk with Christ.
